What do you love most about your job?

There is never a dull moment and I am able to help people achieve their goals in life.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to someone who was looking at starting out in your industry?

Any career is what you make of it. I did not start out intending to be an accountant and here I am almost 30 years later, the managing shareholder of a firm I founded with one of my business partners. And, while I am an accountant, there is so much more to this profession than the numbers and so much more to running a business than accounting.

What would you do if you weren’t in your current role?

I know it sounds crazy, but I would have enjoyed pursuing a professional volleyball or some other athletic career.

Name 3 people you would invite to a dinner party (living or dead).

This is really hard to answer, but, off the top of my head, Gautama Buddha, Albert Einstein and Morgan Freeman (I realize that is a weird list).

What was your first job?

Selling roses on the corner of a small town in Texas when I was 10 years old.

What motivates you?

The feeling I get when I’ve worked really hard and helped someone get through a difficult problem.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

On the beach, probably in Southern California.

How do you start each morning?

Meditation, working out and listening to something interesting on audible while I get ready for work.

What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve received?

Life is not “fair”.

What is your favourite holiday destination and why?

At the risk of being redundant, the beach, because it’s my favourite destination any time of year.

Name one item that you can’t live without.

A journal.
